Because of emphasis on noise, reliability, and safety, this engine differs markedly from military engines; important possibility in design is use of low turbine inlet temperatures; also necessary are inlet screens, thrust reverser and crash fire protection; calculations show that it is possible to design low temperature engines no heavier than engines now being considered for transports.
