Determination and selection of safety factors is of utmost importance in aircraft design; considers general conditions governing choice of factors and examines probable influence on these of modern developments in aircraft performance; reference to accelerometer tests show that in practice load factors commonly used in designs are about 20 to 40 per cent higher than maximum recorded loading.
