Study made in Langley tank to determine lift, drag, and pitching-moment characteristics of three hydrofoils, two triangular and one rectangular; triangular hydrofoil with leading-edge sweep had better overall lift drag ratios; maximum lift-drag ratio obtained was 5.0; pertinence to use of hydrofoil as landing gear for waterbased aircraft.
