Review of basic VTOL types from helicopter to pure jet VTOL types; it appears that quantity use of VTOL aircraft will tend to be predominant in low disk loaded types; promising type for exploitation is tilt wing type of propelloplane exemplified by X-18 aircraft undergoing tests at Hiller Aircraft Corp; development of "integrated" aircraft, jet flap, and Ring Wing, or " Coleopter"; Lift Propulsor type, or wingless "Aerodyne" which represents pure jet lifter type of VTOL; ground effect machines.
