Borderline between aeronautics and astronautics is rapidly disappearing with consequent multiplication of research and development problems; work on structural and auxiliary features of air and spacecraft design is assessed, with attention to items of particular interest to mechanical engineers outside aircraft and missile industries; these include verticle takeoff, guided missiles, temperature and pressure, radiation, materials, fabrication, control and guidance, etc.
