Design concept of winged type vehicle, developed by Lockheed California Co is based on "hot structure", which depends on radiation for keeping temperature below maximum safe limits; material selected was Rene 41, using skin-corrugation type of surface structure, particularly CALAC configuration; main features of structure are illustrated; test specimen fabrication and material studies; structure and fatique testing.
