From data collected at sea, method is given of assessing average wave dimensions and wind speeds most likely to be encountered; percentage margin of power necessary to maintain smooth water speed throughout voyage; principal factors causing loss of speed in bad weather; suggestions for improvement of rough-weather performance of ships.
