Functions, facilities, and operations of test facility established by Bureau of Ships and assigned to San Francisco Naval Shipyard; major responsibilities are to assist in providing adequate ship-protection features, particularly resistance to attack by noncontact underwater weapons, test shipboard equipment using floating shock platforms, conduct and evaluate shock tests against operational ships, and to study shock area, particularly acceptance tests of equipment and shipboard machinery components.
