Features of traffic signal system in Melbourne, Australia: pedestrian control of signals was established in 1956 at certain intersections; "scramble" system (exclusive pedestrian phase) was introduced that appeared suitable for plan periods at T intersection; at present there is delay of 2 to 3 sec for pedestrians at crossings; short intervals of 40 sec for vehicles and 14 sec for pedestrians are advisable in narrow streets.
