Performance of tractor wheels depends largely on nature and distribution of contact pressures between tire and soil; these pressure characteristics influence free rolling resistance of towed wheels and tractive effort developed by driven wheels; performance characteristics of MT3-2 tractor at four different tire inflation pressures are shown; summary of data for maximum and average values of pressure on tire surface; on basis of investigations described it is possible to state that tractive properties of tires depend on magnitude and nature of distribution of contact pressures between tire and soil.
