We present a highly differentiated emission inventory for road passenger and freight transportation worldwide, with a resolution of 1°x1° longitude/latitude, for CO2, CO, NMVOC, CH4, NOx, primary PM and SO2. Our bottom-up country by country calculation agrees to 2% with fuel sales data globally and, more convincingly, to 5% in all important regions. More than three quarters of each pollutant emissions are concentrated in a few countries only and less than 10% of the global totals each are emitted on the Southern hemisphere. We compare our data with other emission estimates and give an expert estimate of the uncertainties.
