AbstractSeveral flights of a balloon-borne 40-cm aperture ultraviolet (2000 Å) imaging telescope (1.5° FOV; ∼ 12 arcsec FWHM) have provided observational data on metal-poor, little reddened, galactic globular clusters M3, M5, M13, M92 and their surroundings. In the case of M13, a catalogue of 605 entries includes positions, cross-identifications and ultraviolet magnitudes for objects detected outside the ∼1 arcmin radius central part. The blue horizontal branch and its extension down to the region of hot subdwarfs at Mv∼4 are detected. The various classes of objects detected in the field are reviewed. The light distribution follows a King's profile; the horizontal branch stars seem less concentrated than more massive stars that are predominant in the visible.
