NORTHROP aeroplanes are usually unconventional and the P.61 Black Widow, is no exception. The tail boom arrangement has only been used on about half-a-dozen modern aeroplanes —none of which has been an unqualified success, e.g. Fokker G.1, Focke-Wulf 189, Lockheed Lightning, etc.
