The Litton LTN-90 inertial reference system employs ring laser gyroscopes rather than the conventional precision spinning-wheel gyro-scopes commonly used in stable platforms. These advanced systems have been designed for the new commercial medium-range wide-body airliners, such as the derivative versions of the Airbus and the Boeing 767.
