In June 1980 I had the opportunity of visiting Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska with a population of 202,000. A city that started as a Base Camp for workers building the Alaskan Railroad in 1914, was devastated by one of the largest earthquakes on record in 1964 and emerged a year later rebuilt as the ‘All American’ city that it is today.
