Ground testing of representing components is being conducted on the Mission Adaptive Wing (MAW) programme in Seattle, Washington. Phase 2 of a three-phase wind tunnel programme has been completed and has verified the aerodynamics and loads used for the initial design concept. Unless a major problem is encountered in the ground test programme, a research F-111 airplane will fly with variable camber wings in August of 1982.
