th=SA Publication Date: 14th December 2014 Applicant: Engineering Solutions Australia Pty Ltd Inventors: Andrew Bressanutti and Damian Brizzi The Hydraulic Point Throw (HPT) is a device used to manually maneuver switch blades (8) of a turnout (7) from Normal (right switch blade closed, left switch blade open) to Reverse (right switch blade open, left switch blade closed), without the signaling infrastructure (turnout motor) being installed. The HPT device is manually leaver driven from Normal to Reverse via a hydraulic jack (5), which pushes / pulls the switch blades (8) from the open to closed position. The hydraulic jack mechanism (5) applies a constant force on the switch blades (8) and maintains the position of the switch blades (8) under railway construction traffic. The HPT can be fitted to turnouts (7) of all rail sizes, all gauges / mixed gauged arrangements and can be fitted to all switch blade (8) types.
