Abstract A closed circuit solar/wind powered stand-alone traffic light system, whereby each junction of traffic lights would have its normal electrical connections, but in addition would have a set of "closed circuit" linkages installed that would connect all the lights in the junction to power. Each pole has its own set of solar cells and wind turbines installed that create an alternative source of electrical power that is stored in battery cells in the centre of existing traffic light poles. This enables the traffic lights to continue working as a despite events occurring that disrupt normal electrical power.
