Abstract Rip Identification Marker Buoy (RIMB) The method and use of the marker buoy as a dual-purpose apparatus used for any body of water that is deemed to be hazardous e.g. rips and sweeps, and where a body of water is either still or moving in the direction in which a water user feels that they are in danger and requires assistance until they can be retrieved safely from the water. The RIMB is shaped like an ice cream cone (but not limited to this shape) with an outer ring that is attached at 4 points at 90 degree spacings around the main body of the floatation device. 2 rings on either end of the buoy, with one situated at the pointer end of the cone shape design, and the other one on the top of the design. The colour of the floatation device will be red and the handle yellow.
