This self-balancing mobile body is provided with: a carriage unit in which a passenger boards; an output unit which outputs a signal; an input unit which receives input of the signal output from the output unit; a conduction/interruption unit which is coupled to the carriage unit so as to be positioned between the output unit and the input unit of, and which has a conduction unit which is capable of conducting a signal and an interruption unit which is capable of interrupting conduction of the signal; a main supporting unit which, if a load is not placed on the carriage unit, elastically supports the carriage unit so that the interruption unit is positioned between the output unit and the input unit so as to interrupt conduction of the signal and, if a load is placed on the carriage unit, is compressively strained so that the conduction unit is positioned between the output unit and the input unit so as to conduct the signal; and a control unit which, if the signal is being conducted between the output unit and the input unit, performs self-balancing control of the self-balancing mobile body.
