The invention relates to a system and a method for monitoring the perpendicularity of a tower crane. The system comprises a tilt angle measuring device arranged on a slewing tower body, a rotation angle measuring device arranged on an upper bracket of the tower crane, and a display alarm device arranged on an operation panel in a cab, wherein the rotation angle measuring device is provided with a pinion meshed with a slewing gear ring, and the tilt angle measuring device and the rotation angle measuring device are connected with the display alarm device through cables; data measured by the tilt angle measuring device and the rotation angle measuring device are input to the display alarm device through the cables, and the display alarm device is used for processing and storing the data and displaying the data in real time. According to the system and the method for monitoring the perpendicularity of the tower crane, provided by the invention, the perpendicularity of the tower crane can be quickly, accurately and automatically measured and is displayed in real time. Even if the centerline of the tower body is a fold line, the perpendicularity can also be accurately measured.
