The invention relates to a control method based on a series-parallel hybrid power system. The series-parallel hybrid power system comprises an engine, an ISG (Integrated Starter Generator), a drive motor and a vehicle-mounted energy system. The demand power of a vehicle is P. The method comprises the steps that when P is greater than Pe_min and smaller than Pe_max, the vehicle is in an individual engine drive mode, the ISG drags an engine to be started, and the engine drives the vehicle in an efficient area; when P is greater than Pe_max and smaller than Pe_max+Pm1_max, the vehicle is in a parallel drive mode, the drive motor supplies P-Pe_max partial power, and the engine runs in the efficient area; when P is greater than Pe_max+Pm1_max, the ISG participates in driving, and the vehicle is in a three-power parallel drive mode formed by the engine, the ISG and the drive motor, the engine supplies Pe_max partial power, the drive motor supplies the P-Pe_max partial power, the ISG supplies P-Pe_max-Pm1_max partial power, and the engine runs in the efficient area. The working states of the engine, the drive motor and the ISG are controlled respectively according to the size of the demand power, the efficient operation of the engine is achieved, the efficiency of the engine is effectively improved, and the energy consumption and the emission of the whole vehicle are reduced.
