The invention discloses a vehicle detector which comprises a transmitting device and a receiving device. The transmitting device is embedded in the road surface and comprises a power supply, a shock sensor used for sensing shockwaves generated by a motor vehicle and a wireless transmitting module used for transmitting signals generated from the shock sensor; the receiving device comprises a receiving module used for receiving signals transmitted by the wireless receiving module, a calculating module used for calculating weight and passing speed of the motor vehicle through the shock frequency and an output module connected with other outer equipment. The motor vehicle generate the shockwaves when passing through the road surface with the embedded transmitting device, frequency spectrums of the shockwaves are detected by the shock sensor, corresponding signals are generated and transmitted out through the wireless transmitting module,, and after the signals are received by the receiving module of the receiving device, the weight and driving speed of the vehicle are calculated out through the calculating module.
