The invention relates to a snake-shaped robot which is formed by connecting a plurality of segments of modular snake body units in series end to end. Each modular snake body unit comprises a plurality of modular snake body segments, a connection rod mechanism, a drive mechanism and a driver. The connection mechanisms are arranged among the modular snake body units in a penetrating mode. The drivers are arranged in certain modular snake body segments. The connection rod mechanisms are connected with the drivers through the drive mechanisms. By means of the snake-shaped robot, the size of the snake-shaped robot is shrunk obviously, the available space in the snake-shaped robot is increased, the overall mass of the snake-shaped robot is lowered, and a control system of the snake-shaped robot is simplified, so that the snake-shaped robot can have the advantages of being low in cost, light in weight, flexible to move, reliable in action and capable of achieving functional diversification.
