The invention relates to a viaduct entrance ramp traffic congestion grade estimation method which includes the steps: acquiring device data including entrance ramp flow data of a lifting height-limiting frame; calculating multilane unidirectional total flow in an acquisition cycle according to the entrance ramp flow data, and taking the multilane unidirectional total flow corresponding to all acquisition cycles within one month to serve as a sample set; preprocessing the sample set and removing abnormal values in the sample set; calculating a critical value Xc of the sample set, and calculating a traffic state coefficient K of an entrance ramp according to the critical value Xc; calculating a TCI (traffic congestion index) according to the traffic state coefficient K of the entrance ramp; estimating a viaduct entrance ramp traffic jam grade according to the TCI. The viaduct entrance ramp traffic congestion grade is quantified by the aid of the lifting height-limiting frame, congestion grade quantifying information is provided for viaduct administrators and drivers, and a novel solving method is provided for unblocked travel of a viaduct.
