The invention provides a hybrid electric vehicle and a power coupling device used for the same. The hybrid electric vehicle comprises a one-way clutch component, a brake unit, a locking clutch unit, a single-row planetary gear train mechanism and a shell, wherein the single-row planetary gear train mechanism comprises a sun wheel, a planetary gear, a planetary carrier and a gear ring. A rotary shaft of an engine of the hybrid electric vehicle is connected with the sun gear, the one-way clutch component is connected with the sun gear so as to prevent anticlockwise rotation, the brake unit is connected with the sun gear to brake and control the same, a motor of the hybrid electric vehicle is connected with the gear ring fittingly, the planetary rack is connected with a rotary shaft of a transmission, and the locking clutch unit is connected with the planetary rack and the gear ring respectively. By innovatively arranging the clutch and the brake to control switch of power transmission, energy utilization rate is greatly increased, the hybrid electric vehicle can run in various modes, and the power coupling device can be widely popularized and applied to various hybrid electric vehicles and is wide in market prospect.
