The invention discloses a vehicle overspeeding warning method and an automobile instrument. The method comprises the steps that running vehicle speeds of vehicles are obtained; under the condition that it is confirmed that the running vehicle speeds exceed a preset overspeed threshold value, overspeed warning sections where the running vehicle speeds belong to are judged; and warning operation corresponding to the overspeed warning sections is executed, wherein the overspeed warning sections are multiple numerical value sections divided within the numerical value range between the preset overspeed threshold value and the highest running vehicle speeds of the vehicles, and the overspeed warning sections correspond to different warning operations respectively. According to the technical scheme, diversified overspeed warning modes of the automobile instrument are achieved, and drivers can regulate the running vehicle speeds in time according to road condition information.
