A cooling control device and cooling control method for an electric-vehicle motor whereby damage to said motor can be reduced without making the user feel as though something is wrong are obtained. A vehicle control unit has the following: a vehicle-stop determination unit that determines whether or not the vehicle is stopped; a clutch control unit that disengages a clutch if it is determined that the vehicle is stopped; a motor control unit that, after the clutch has been disengaged, runs the motor so as to run an oil circulation unit; and a motor-magnet-temperature estimation unit that detects an induced voltage resulting from the motor being run and estimates the temperature of a magnet in the motor from the detected motor-induced voltage. If the estimated motor-magnet temperature is higher than a predetermined temperature threshold above which motor cooling is required, the motor control unit keeps the motor running, but if the motor-magnet temperature is less than or equal to said temperature threshold, the motor control unit stops the motor.
