The invention discloses a mechanical device which is specially used for preventing railway vehicles from overturning. The mechanical device comprises two sets of execution mechanisms, wherein the execution mechanisms are mounted on railway vehicle bogies, and one set of the execution mechanism is mounted on each side of each bogie; each set of execution mechanism comprises a displacement sensor, a controller, a double-acting type air cylinder, a double-acting type solenoid valve, an overturning-preventing hook plate and a hook plate mounting seat. The working principle of the device is that a displacement meter is mounted between a shaft box and a framework; the stress state of a shaft box spring is judged by adopting the displacement sensors; if the force of the shaft box spring is close to zero, a vehicle is in a critical overturning state and the displacement sensors trigger the double-acting type solenoid valves to move through the controllers, and high-pressure air pushes the double-acting type air cylinders to stretch out to push the overturning-preventing hook plates to hook the lower surface of a rail, so that vertical separation between a wheel pair and the rail can be avoided and train overturning accidents also can be avoided.
