The component has a planar decorative element (5) which has at least one translucent region (6) and at least one non-translucent region (7). Lighting means (9) serve to illuminate the at least one translucent region (6). A light-filtering layer (10) is arranged between the decorative element (5) and the lighting means (9), said layer (10) being integrally attached to a rear side (8) of the decorative element (5) by injection moulding. Means (24) are provided which essentially completely absorb and/or scatter light when the lighting means (9) is transported to the specified edge (4). As a result, leakage light at an edge (4) of the component (1) can be reliably avoided.
