The invention relates to a draw gear buffering device for a rail locomotive. The draw gear buffering device comprises a draw gear and a cylindrical gear tail cabinet. A front slave plate is arranged in the gear tail cabinet, the plate face of the front slave plate is perpendicular to the center line of the gear tail cabinet, and the periphery of the front slave plate is fixedly connected with the inner wall of the gear tail cabinet. A back slave plate is arranged at the portion, behind the front slave plate, of an inner cavity of the gear tail cabinet and is parallel to the front slave plate, and the periphery of the back slave plate is fixedly connected with the inner wall of the gear tail cabinet. A buffer is arranged at the portion, between the back slave plate and the front slave plate, of the inner cavity of the gear tail cabinet. Through holes are formed in the portions, corresponding to the front end of the buffer, of the front slave plate and the end face of the gear tail cabinet respectively. The tail of the draw gear penetrates through the through hole in the end face of the gear tail cabinet and the through hole in the front slave plate to be connected with the front end of the buffer. The draw gear buffering device is characterized in that an annular first friction block is arranged on the outer side wall of the buffer, an annular second friction block is arranged at the portion, corresponding to the first friction block, of the inner side wall of the gear tail cabinet, and the first friction block is in contact with the second friction block. The front slave plate and the back slave plate in the buffering device are not prone to damage, and the service life is long.
