The invention belongs to the technical field of ocean observation and relates to assistive technology of ocean observation, in particular to a towed underwater vehicle, mainly aiming at measurement of high-density section observation parameters in regional waters. The towed underwater vehicle comprises a carrying device, an adjusting mechanism and an internal control unit, wherein the carrying device is used for carrying underwater exploration instruments, the adjusting mechanism and the internal control unit, the adjusting mechanism is used for adjusting running depth of the towed underwater vehicle, and the internal control unit is used for controlling the adjusting mechanism to enable the same to be capable of completing high-density section measurement. The towed underwater vehicle has the advantages that high-density section measurement can be completed without stopping of the towed underwater vehicle, so that time is saved; the towed underwater vehicle is capable of carrying multiple kinds of instruments, convenient to use and saving in cost; the towed underwater vehicle is high in maneuverability intrinsically and capable of achieving operation under multiple conditions, thereby being high in practical value; the towed underwater vehicle is quite small in size, thereby being carried conveniently during ocean expedition.
