The present invention discloses a method for powering an electric vehicle. A plurality of photovoltaic panels are elevated at one side or two sides of a road. A plurality of metal conductive plates with the width of about 400mm and the length of more than 10M are parallelly buried in the track of the road in segments. Each of the photovoltaic panels only supplies power to one corresponding segment of two parallel conductive plates, and a plurality of independent power supply units are formed. Two conductive wheels capable of lifting and landing are fixed under an electric car chassis and are in elastic contact with two parallel conductive plates to supply power to the electric vehicle and charge a vehicle-borne storage battery. Two power supply modes that the road with the conductive plates is used as a main power supply and the vehicle-borne storage battery is used as a main power supply in a common road are formed, charging time is saved, and the driving distance of the electric car is prolonged. Since the conductive plates are distributed in segments to form the independent power supply units, even the vehicle capacity in the road is large, the current large fluctuation in a grid is not caused, the alternate power supply of photovoltaic and public grids is employed, the environmental pollution is zero, and the energy-saving effect is remarkable.
