The invention discloses an anti-fault device for inclined roadway transportation of a coal mine. The device comprises an arrester which is arranged at an exit of a rail of a transportation tramcar, atramcar catcher which is used for braking the transportation tramcar, a stepping motor which is arranged in the tramcar catcher, and a programmable controller which is used for controlling the stepping motor to rotate forwards and backwards. The programmable controller is used for setting and receiving the braking duration in-place time of the tramcar catcher acquired by the position sensor to control the stepping motor to stop running. The invention further discloses an anti-fault control method. Start and stop of the stepping motor are controlled by setting the braking time input by the programmable logic controller to the position sensor. By the adoption of the technical scheme, various electrical and mechanical accidents of the tramcar catcher can be prevented, the safety effect of inclined roadway transportation is improved, and the potential safety hazard of inclined roadway safety accidents caused by damage of the tramcar catcher is reduced.
