The invention relates to the technical field of mobile robots, and particularly relates to a pole climbing mechanism. The mechanism comprises a frame assembly and multiple sets of crawling wheel assemblies, and the frame assembly is an annular structure and can be opened or closed; and the multiple sets of crawling wheel assemblies are arranged on the frame assembly in a circumferential directionand used for achieving crawling movement of a crawling mechanism on a pole. A plurality of crawling wheel bases used for installing the crawling wheel assemblies are arranged on the annular frame assembly in the circumferential direction, and each crawling wheel base is provided with two sets of crawling wheel assemblies which are arranged up and down. The mechanism is high in movement efficiency,high in movement speed, simple in structure, high in adaptability and so on, and can climb on a columnar pole or a similar columnar pole.
