The invention relates to a flap/slat control handle for an airplane high lift system. The system comprises a handle, a pull rod, a light guide plate with a position mark, a mechanical assembly coupledwith the pull rod, a rotating shaft coupled with the mechanical assembly, a first sensor unit and a second sensor unit, wherein the first sensor unit and the second sensor unit are coupled with the rotating shaft; the mechanical assembly is arranged to be coaxially coupled together with the first sensor unit and the second sensor unit through a rotating shaft; when the flap and slat control handle is moved, the first sensor unit and the second sensor unit read the positions of the flap and slat control handle at the same time; and the first sensor unit and the second sensor unit generate a first sensor unit output signal and a second sensor unit output signal based on the read position of the flap and slat operating handle so as to provide the signals to a corresponding first flap and slat electronic control devices and a corresponding second flap and slat electronic control devices. The invention also relate to a flap and slat handle and a method of operating the flap and slat electronic control device.
