The invention provides an electric vehicle charging pile which comprises a pre-buried cylinder used for being buried underground. A base and a charging pile body arranged on the base are arranged in the pre-buried cylinder, and the charging pile body is provided with a containing cavity and a charging plug arranged in the containing cavity. A first lifting mechanism used for driving the base to ascend and descend so as to enter and exit the pre-buried cylinder is arranged in the pre-buried cylinder, and transverse opening and closing protection mechanisms which are distributed on the two sides of the charging pile body and form at least a protection space for enclosing the containing cavity through contact closing are arranged on the base. By arranging the pre-buried cylinder, the charging pile can be pre-buried underground after being installed in the pre-buried cylinder, and when an automobile needs to be charged, the first lifting mechanism is started to jack the charging pile up from the interior of the pre-buried cylinder for charging; and through reasonable arrangement of the transverse opening and closing protection mechanism, the requirement for the height space when the protection charging pile is opened and closed is reduced.
