The invention relates to a method for slowly driving a vehicle to a target position, in particular before a traffic node, by means of a controller, wherein when the vehicle is parked at the stop position, sensor data of the vehicle sensor device and/or of the infrastructure-side sensor device are received, and a risk/utility calculation is carried out on exceeding the stop position and on a slow-in target position arranged after the stop position in the driving direction by means of the received sensor data; when the vehicle travels forward and/or exceeds the stop position is safe for the vehicle, the stop position is exceeded; and a stepwise approach of the vehicle from the stop position to the target position is started when the result of the risk/utility calculation is larger than the result of the risk/utility calculation at the stop position. Furthermore, a controller, a computer program and a machine-readable storage medium are disclosed.
