The invention relates to the technical field of automobile energy recovery, in particular to an energy recovery system and method for a hybrid electric vehicle, and the system comprises an automobile management module which is used for detecting the automobile state data of the hybrid electric vehicle in real time; a motor management module which is used for detecting the motor state data of the hybrid electric vehicle in real time; a battery management module which is used for detecting the battery state data of the hybrid electric vehicle in real time; a central control module which is used for calculating a motor initial feedback torque according to the automobile state data, calculating a motor constraint feedback torque according to the motor state data, calculating a battery constraint feedback torque according to the battery state data, and determining an electric braking torque; and a recycling execution module which is used for controlling the motor to brake according to the electric braking torque and recycling energy. The technical problem that it is difficult to recover sliding energy to the maximum extent and ensure driving comfort at the same time is solved.
