A protective element (4) is arranged below the axle auxiliary frame (3) with respect to the vertical direction (Z) of the motor vehicle, wherein the protective element (4) protrudes downwards relative to the axle auxiliary frame (3) and is arranged in front of the battery carrier (2) in the longitudinal direction (X) of the motor vehicle in the direction of travel, wherein the protective element (4) is designed as a cross-beam (6) which is connected to the axle auxiliary frame (3) by means of a stopper bracket (5).
