The invention relates to a method for predicting driving motions in a driver assistance system of a motor vehicle (28). In the method, a history (22) of not yet completed driving motions is recorded based on sensory sensed vehicle dynamics data (v, [psi]) and the future change process of the driving motions is predicted according to the history. The invention is characterized in that a plurality of hypotheses (14) for potentially occurring driving maneuvers are represented by a respectively associated set of parameters (16), a theoretical history (18) of the driving motions is calculated for each hypothesis from the parameters (16), the recorded history (22) is compared with at least one of said theoretical histories (18), and according to the similarity measure, the hypothesis that describes the currently occurring driving motions with the greatest probability is determined and output as the prediction result (26).
