A cargo module exchange system for an electronic short-distance takeoff and landing air vehicle includes an autonomously driven robotic vehicle for transporting and exchanging cargo modules on an autonomous electric aircraft. The robotic vehicle has two or more robotic arms for controlled material handling and manipulation, each robotic arm configured to perform installation, removal and replacement of a cargo warehouse directly onto the aft end of the front of the central fuselage of an electric short-distance takeoff and landing (ESTOL) aircraft. The cargo storage bin is configured to act as a tail of a central fuselage of the aircraft.
