The elevator counterweight system comprises two oppositely-arranged vertical beams, upper beams, auxiliary beams and bottom beams are fixedly connected to the tops, the positions close to the tops and the bottoms of the two vertical beams correspondingly, the two upper beams, the two auxiliary beams and the two bottom beams are symmetrically arranged on the two sides of the vertical beams correspondingly, and vertical beams are connected between the middles of the auxiliary beams and the middles of the bottom beams; a plurality of counterweight blocks which are arranged in an overlapped mode are supported on the top face of the bottom beam, a pressing plate is arranged on the top face of the counterweight block on the top, and two buffer piers are symmetrically arranged at the bottom of the bottom beam. The device is compact and stable in structure, and the safety of the elevator is ensured.
