In a motor drive system, a reaction force actuator and a steering actuator each have a plurality of control calculation units provided redundantly and a plurality of motor drive units provided redundantly. The reaction force and the control calculation units of the systems paired with each other among the steering actuators transmit and receive information to each other by means of inter-actuator communication. When any one of the two actuators has failed (S1) or when communication between the actuators of any one of the two actuators has failed (S3), the control calculation unit of each actuator of the failed system stops the motor drive control (S3). In both actuators, the motor drive control is continued by a control calculation unit of a normal system (S4).
