Embodiments included herein are directed to automatic tire inflation monitoring systems and methods. The method may include confirming, using a battery powered electronic sensor, that no active tire reinflation is being performed. The method may also include monitoring, using the battery powered electronic sensor, a state of all tire pressure over a period of time, and determining, using the battery powered electronic sensor, whether a rate of decrease in tire pressure exceeds a first value. The method may include reporting a fault using a battery powered electronic sensor if the rate exceeds a first value.
