The invention provides a traction battery circuit interrupter assembly and an interrupting method. A traction battery assembly according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes a traction battery, a motor, an electrical harness assembly, a protrusion adjacent the electrical harness assembly. The projection is configured to move from a first position to a second position in response to a loading event. When the protrusion is in the first position, the motor is electrically coupled to the traction battery through the electrical harness assembly. When the protrusion is in the second position, the motor is electrically decoupled from the traction battery.
