The invention relates to a method for determining a charging profile of device cells of a battery-operated device, comprising the following steps: selecting device cells having the same load caused by use and the same aging state; dividing the selected equipment batteries into groups; assigning different charging profiles to the group of device cells, wherein the charging profile for the charging process indicates a maximum allowable charging current associated with the state of charge range; operating all of the device cells having the respective assigned charging profile for a predetermined duration such that the charging process is performed according to the respective assigned charging profile; determining, for each group of device cells, a change in an average aging state between a start of a predetermined duration and an end of the predetermined duration; the charging profile of at least one of the groups of device cells is adapted according to the change in the average aging state in order to reduce the load of the device cells of the at least one group.
