The invention discloses an underwater gravity anchor relay type lowering method and lowering system. The lowering method comprises the steps that S10, a barge loaded with a gravity anchor is driven to a first temporary working area to be temporarily anchored and fixed; s20, the floating crane is driven to the side of the barge to be temporarily anchored and fixed; s30, the floating crane is used for lowering the gravity anchor to the seabed surface; s40, connecting an (i + 1) th steel wire rope to the ith steel wire rope; the initial value of i is 1; s50, the lifting hook is lifted to enable the gravity anchor to be separated from the seabed surface; s60, whether the total length of all the steel wire ropes is larger than the water depth of the target working area or not is judged; if yes, the floating crane is driven to the target working area for lowering the gravity anchor; if not, driving the floating crane carrying the gravity anchor to the (i + 1) th temporary working area, and lowering the gravity anchor to the seabed surface; and i is made to be equal to j + 1, the step S40 to the step S60 are repeated, and j is the number of times of the step S60. The lowering method can solve the problem that the steel wire rope goes deep into the water surface and cannot be removed in the lowering process of the underwater gravity anchor.
