The present disclosure provides "Assisted Vehicle Operation with Improved Object Detection". A vehicle control system is disclosed that includes a camera configured to capture image data depicting a field of view in the vicinity of the vehicle. The vehicle control system also includes a plurality of light sources coupled to the vehicle and a controller. The controller is configured to activate a plurality of lamps in an alternating mode and capture light reflected from at least one object with the camera at a timing corresponding to the alternating mode of the plurality of lamps. In response to a change in light impinging on the at least one object relative to the alternating pattern, the controller is configured to identify a distance of the object.
