The invention relates to a method for controlling the clamping torque of an electromechanical brake of a motor vehicle, said brake comprising an electric machine provided with a spindle intended to drive a mechanical clamping device of the brake. The method comprises the steps of:-acquiring data from a wheel speed sensor (32) which implements a measurement characterizing the speed of at least one wheel of the vehicle; -determining a deceleration indication characterizing the acceleration of the vehicle from data from the wheel speed sensor (32); -adjusting the clamping torque as a function of the deceleration indication.
